Helping to Create Moments of Joy

How it Works

We work with two community housing organizations, Westwood Transitional Village and Venice Community Housing. When they receive notice of a new client move-in we have about three days’ notice to jump into action.

Volunteers are called on to shop for food and pull together all of the household items needed for the family, including any specific items such as diapers and crib sheets for infants or school supplies and age-appropriate books for teens. Cars are packed up and volunteers spend hours creating each family’s new home.

When the families later move into more permanent housing, they take with them all the items provided by TWC.

TWC at Work

TWC calls readying a home for a formerly unhoused family a “set-up”. This is our call to action and our volunteers never fail to respond. The little touches we add to every apartment go beyond decoration to help create an environment of comfort, warmth and dignity.
